2022 Nesting Season Results
In 2022, volunteers made 1,180 visits to our sanctuaries to check on 88 nesting sites monitored by the chapter, including nest boxes, purple martin gourds, chimney swift towers, and open nests.
Volunteers reported nesting statuses and results to Cornell University’s NestWatch community science program. The first nest-building activity was found March 3, by a Carolina wren at our Audrey Carroll Sanctuary, with the last recorded monitoring visit on Aug. 10, of a bluebird nest also at Audrey Carroll.
