Board Members
Audubon Society of Central Maryland is seeking individuals to join its board of directors. The ASCM board is responsible for setting and periodically reviewing the organization’s mission, overseeing programs and services, conducting fiduciary oversight and financial management, carrying out long-range planning, and enhancing ASCM’s public image.
We welcome to our board individuals from a variety of backgrounds and are particularly interested in individuals with skills in nonprofit governance and oversight, visionary thinking, financial management and stewardship, fundraising, and strategic planning. Individuals with backgrounds in business, faith and religion, or anti-racism initiatives, or with connections to a range of community organizations or funding sources, would be of great benefit to our board. Building a board with a diversity of skills, backgrounds, ideas, races, ages, and cultures is a priority. BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals are encouraged to apply.
The full board meets 4-6 times per year, with additional meetings scheduled as needed to carry out the work of committees or specific projects. Incoming board members are asked attend and actively participate in most board meetings, volunteer with at least two public programs per year, and be an active advocate and ambassador for the organization.
Board members are also asked to make personally significant annual contributions equal to ability to give and to actively participate in fundraising. Directors serve up to two consecutive three-year terms. Terms are staggered and begin in July of each year.
If serving on the board is of interest to you, we look forward to hearing from you! Fill out the form below and we will be in touch.
