Join us for a Bob Schaefer Nature Outing at the Fred J. Archibald Audubon Sanctuary. See and identify the many fall migrant birds that use this beautiful sanctuary. Among sparrows alone, there’s a good chance of seeing song, field, swamp, white-throated, white-crowned, chipping, and Lincoln’s sparrows and dark-eyed juncos. We are also likely to see ruby-crowned kinglets feeding in the goldenrod and palm warblers wagging their tails in nearby trees.
During the outing, we will visit the birding circle at the Big Sit. Watch our birders in action as they square off against Frederick Bird Club members stationed at our Audrey Carroll Sanctuary. The team that observes the most species from their circle takes home the Golden Falcon trophy.
People of all ages are welcome to explore the sanctuary with us! Please help us comply with public health guidelines: Maintain distance from those who are not in your party, and if you are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, we ask that you wear a mask. Stay home if you are feeling ill.
No restroom facilities are available. The walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
The event is free, but donations are always welcome to help us maintain our beautiful sanctuaries and support all of our efforts to help us make a home for birds. Thank you!
